Children’s Eye Test Near Me in Bushey Heath
Children use their eyes constantly, from reading and writing at school to recognising faces, playing outdoors and using digital screens. Because young children may not always realise that their eyesight is not working as it should, changes in visual behaviour can sometimes go unnoticed.
At Eye 2 Eye Opticians, we provide professional children’s eye tests near Bushey Heath, with a friendly approach designed to help younger patients feel relaxed during their appointment. Our optometrists take the time to assess each child’s visual needs and explain the process in a way that is appropriate for their age.
Whether your child is having their first eye examination, you have noticed a change in their visual behaviour, or you simply want to keep their eyesight monitored as they grow, our team provides thoughtful and personalised optical care.

What Can a Children’s Eye Test Tell You?
A child may not complain about blurred vision because they may assume that everyone sees the world in the same way. This is one reason parents can benefit from professional eye examinations rather than relying solely on whether their child says they have a problem.
A children’s eye examination can help assess how well your child sees and how their eyes are working together.
Parents may consider arranging an eye test if their child:
- Squints or closes one eye when looking at something
- Holds books unusually close
- Sits very near the television or computer
- Frequently rubs their eyes
- Complains of headaches after reading
- Avoids reading or close-up activities
- Has difficulty seeing things at a distance
- Appears to struggle with visually demanding schoolwork
These behaviours do not necessarily mean that a child has an eye problem. However, they can be useful reasons to discuss their vision with a qualified optometrist.

Clear Answers to Eye Health Care Questions
The appropriate timing can depend on the child's age, development and individual circumstances. If you have concerns about your child's vision, speak to an optometrist for personalised guidance.
Signs can include squinting, sitting very close to screens, difficulty reading, headaches or changes in visual behaviour. However, some children may have no obvious symptoms.
Not necessarily. An examination determines whether there is a vision or eye-health concern that requires attention. If glasses are appropriate, the optometrist can explain why and discuss suitable options.
Children's examinations are adapted to their age and ability to communicate. The optometrist uses suitable methods to assess their vision and visual development.
