Children’s Eye Test Near Me in Radlett
A child’s eyesight can influence how they interact with books, classroom activities, screens, sports and the world around them. Yet children do not always recognise or communicate when their vision is not as clear as it should be.
At Eye 2 Eye Opticians, we provide children’s eye tests near Radlett for families who want professional guidance about their child’s vision. Our optometrists take a patient, age-appropriate approach, helping children feel comfortable while assessing their visual needs.
Whether you are arranging an examination because your child has mentioned difficulty seeing, you have noticed a change in their behaviour, or you simply want their vision professionally checked, we provide a welcoming environment and clear explanations for parents.
Our aim is straightforward: make children’s eye care accessible, reassuring and useful for the whole family.

Could Your Child Be Struggling to See Clearly?
Children often adapt to their eyesight without realising that anything is unusual. A child who cannot see clearly at a distance may move closer to objects. Another child may avoid reading because concentrating on small print feels uncomfortable.
Parents may want to consider an eye examination if they notice:
- Squinting when looking at distant objects
- Sitting unusually close to the television
- Holding books or tablets very close
- Losing concentration during reading
- Frequent eye rubbing
- Complaints of headaches after visual tasks
- Difficulty recognising things at a distance
- Avoidance of reading or detailed activities
None of these signs automatically means your child has an eye condition. They can, however, be useful reasons to discuss your concerns with an optometrist.
A professional eye test provides a more reliable picture than trying to judge your child’s eyesight at home.

Clear Answers to Eye Health Care Questions
The appropriate timing can depend on the child's age, development and individual circumstances. If you have concerns about your child's vision, speak to an optometrist for personalised guidance.
Signs can include squinting, sitting very close to screens, difficulty reading, headaches or changes in visual behaviour. However, some children may have no obvious symptoms.
Not necessarily. An examination determines whether there is a vision or eye-health concern that requires attention. If glasses are appropriate, the optometrist can explain why and discuss suitable options.
Children's examinations are adapted to their age and ability to communicate. The optometrist uses suitable methods to assess their vision and visual development.
